Dashboards provide a centralized place to organize and monitor the reports that matter most to you. By combining multiple report widgets onto a single page, you can quickly visualize key metrics without opening each report individually.
Each widget on a dashboard is powered by a Report, allowing you to reuse the same report across multiple dashboards while customizing how it is displayed.
Whether you're monitoring sales activity, tracking support tickets, or reviewing company performance, dashboards make it easy to keep your most important information in one place.
Dashboards are created just like any other record in ValStorm.
Open the Dashboards object and click Create.
When the Dashboard Builder opens, give your dashboard a descriptive name.
A new dashboard begins with a single empty widget ready to be configured.
Widgets are the building blocks of every dashboard.
Each widget displays a single report and can be moved, resized, or configured independently of the other widgets on the page.
To reposition a widget, click and drag the six-dot handle located in the upper-left corner of the widget.
Move widgets into whatever arrangement best fits the information you want to monitor.
Widgets can be resized at any time.
Click and drag the resize handle located in the lower-right corner of the widget to adjust its width and height.
This makes it easy to emphasize your most important reports while allowing smaller widgets for supporting information.
Click the Settings (gear) button in the upper-right corner of the widget to begin configuring it.
The first step is selecting the report you would like the widget to display.
After selecting a report, click Next to open the Configure Chart window.
This window contains the same chart display options available when viewing a report, allowing you to customize exactly how the report appears on your dashboard.
For a complete explanation of chart configuration options, see the Reports and Data Charts documentation.
After configuring the chart, click Save.
The configuration window closes and the completed chart appears inside the widget.
If a widget is no longer needed, click the Delete (trash) button in the upper-right corner of the widget.
Removing a widget only removes it from the dashboard. The underlying report remains unchanged.
Most dashboards contain multiple reports.
To add another widget, click Add Chart in the page header.
Each new widget can display a different report and be configured independently using its own chart settings.
This allows a single dashboard to display information from multiple objects, reports, and chart types simultaneously.
Once your dashboard has been arranged and configured, click Save to preserve your changes.
Your dashboard layout, widget positions, widget sizes, and chart configurations will all be saved and restored the next time the dashboard is opened.
